EXPIRED - 6 months half price line rental on iPhone - starts 1st November!!

354°

FOUND BY: Jemster 1 year, 3 months ago

STARTS: 01/11/2008

I was in Carphone Warehouse last night to purchase a 16GB iPhone on an 18 month contract and was asking if they'd match the quidco cashback in-store. Of course the answer was no, but what they did offer (after the obligatory case & screen protector) was 6 months half-price line rental.

I was impressed and signed up on the spot - unfortunately when they got to the redemption form bit they had to call head office as they were unsure of the correct options to pick and head office informed them that the deal starts on 1st November, so couldn't process my order (yet).

So just a heads up to anyone thinking of entering a new iPhone contract - hold off for a few days and a hot deal will appear!

It's currently the bset deal for a 3G iphone but it still disgusts me that you're paying say on a 35/month contract £159 for a 16G version (roughly what an ipod touch at 16GB is worth from america) and £525 over 18 months (using this deal; £630 at full price). The 18 months of phone usage is worth at most £270 (and purely based on the fact you get 'unlimited' wireless) so paying ~ £350 for the luxury of not having to carry both a normal phone and an ipod seems ridiculous!

Voted hot still as if you have to get one it seems the best way. (Just think of all the other things you could buy though, and the credit crunch)

Monkey nuts 2: I was going to sign up to £45 / month and it definitely was going to apply to that, not having seen any printed info I can't be any more precise, sorry.

zchari5: Interesting points but here's where it kind of falls apart for me...

You say £159 which is roughly a 16GB iPod Touch in America - well, roughly, yes, I'll not get into the price differential argument that invariably forgets about VAT and the realities of exchange rates...

So what you're getting is a 16GB Touch, for substantially less than the price of a UK 16GB Touch, and a phone with GPS thrown in "for free" like so many other 35/month deals.

The minutes & texts are 600/500 + internet + wi-fi.
If you tried building that with Simplicity it would be the £20 (online) + internet (£7.50) + wi-fi (£7.50) = £35 so the same as the iPhone tariff.

On Vodafone, the equivalent as SIM only would be £20 + internet (£7.50) + wi-fi (don't know!) so we can assume that's pretty darned near as well.

On T-Mobile, Flext30 is about as close as they get and thats £30 without the wi-fi.

So it really doesn't seem that bad a package any more...

Anyways, regardless of whether people want / like / loathe an iPhone, as far as I can see it's the best deal out there.

Oh yeah, and here's another thought - if Carphone Warehouse offer the same redemption online as they will be doing in-store then there's £45 quidco to take into account as well ;)

Damn! Got my new iPhone 3G contract signed up yesterday evening at O2 (Instore). Took £45/Month + £59 (for 16 GB - Black). Also included insurance to make sure I handle it well, leaving to swiss next month for a short trip, so took it.

Should I've waited until Nov. 1 for this hottt deal? !! Hot Hot from me!

Already in love with my iPhone.. FaceBook App is awesome....!!!

I too have just taken out a new contract, I'm just wondering as I ordered mine online if I can use the cooling off period to cancel and then recontract.

Cool. I tried to purchase this online over the weekend only to find that my bank had blocked the transaction, as it "deviated from usual" - apparently I don't usually buy iPhones!

The SImplicity 25 (£20 per month) provides a free bolt on (unlimited texts, wi-fi or unlimited data) so to match the iPhone offering, you would only pay £27.50.

I currently have an iPhone 3G that was sent in error to me as a replacement by O2, which I am using Simplicity sim card in. 600 minutes, 1000 texts, and Unlimited data (I don't have many Wi-Fi hotspots near me to add the bolt-on) all for £20 with a 30 day contract. I feel ever so....lucky?

can see this turning into mud-slinging like the Wii for £99.99 thread as its a "heads-up" with only hearsay to back it up.

seems like a good deal if its true
