Please don't mistake these for real ale...only the Bottle Conditioned beers are REAL...most bottled beer is the equivalent of Keg in a bottle....yuk

I would also prefer a pint of real cask ale.

However, for drinking at home, the Shepherd Neame ales are quite pleasant and very good value at 99p. I bought five of each in Lidl this afternoon.

Incidentally, for the purists, Shepherd Neame do a lovely bottle conditioned real ale. I think it is called 1698 or similar.

I second the opinion that only bottle conditioned beer can be described as "Real" ale.
However, £1 a bottle is still a bargain!
Out Lidl have been selling this stuff for £1 for about a month now. I noticed the other day that our local Asda has followed suit and is also offering various botlled ales for £1 so it's worth checking there if you have no Lidl nearby....

Depending what beer you prefer, Sainsbury's may be an equally good option.

They currently have packs of 8 x 500ml bottles of Hobgoblin for £7.99, so the same price as Lidl.

A range of ales are also on a 4 for the price of 3 offer. This includes Batemans XXXB Ale, 500ml bottles at £1.39, so £1.04 per bottle and 500ml bottles of Mann's Brown Ale at £1.04, so 76p each.
