Yes I agree Pirate Pete...only prob is the AGP slot on the M/B which will restrict a graphics card upgrade.

how will an AGP slot "restrict" the update? surely it will allow an update!

or do you mean that it's not PCI-E?

Good deal, am tempted to get this as a replacement for the pentium III family computer which is dying a slow and painful death as we speak.

exactly...a decent AGP card is quite expensive and I doubt any future technology will be applied to AGP....so serious gamers really need a PCI-E slot.

But as you say mark it would be a good value upgrade for your family PC.

would this be a good basic family computer?

I use it to look up new deals from a web site call Hot UK something or other
Kids use it to google their home work and
hubby uses it to write college work on,

the one i have just now crashes every 10 mins, or when their is a moving/flashing picture on screen, and still has a 1. something usb, I'ts about 7 years old and has been repaired several times only to have the same problem,(which only started when broad band was installed)
thanks xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yes fizziebabes this would fit your requirements at a very reasonable price.
A 7 year old PC??...I'd hate to think what spec that is!!! LOL...buy one of these and you'll experience something nearer what the latest technology can offer.

Remember 3 years ago I was still at Uni and couldn't afford a new PC and my parents wouldn't buy me one. Luckily my generous uncle donated me a Pentium 75 with 8 meg graphics card and Windows 95. How I managed to get any work done is beyond me!

Somewhat infuriating that my Dad's just packed my brother off to start Hull with a fancy 19" widescreen monitor to add to the PC he bought him 12 months ago... *me? Bitter? Noooo *

Edit: It did manage to run C&C: Red Alert and Solitaire though so things weren't all bad

I agree. The rest of the specifications aren't really sufficient for a serious gamer either though. I don't think many gamers would want a celeron processor. This would make a really good basic home computer for internet, doing work, and if you upgrade to an AGP card (there are some good ones around for about £50) it will play games to most people's satisfaction.

OK I've put me money where my mouth is and bought one.
Will post if any good if deal is not sold out.
For a general home PC I thought the spec was quite good.
I paid a lot lot more a couple of years ago for a very similar spec PC.

Was this emoticon made for me ?

OK Received the PC on Monday. All the parts and PC look brand new !
Set up was a breeze, removed all AOL crap and the 90 day virus program and all unwanted programs.
I then installed Zone alarm, AVG free, Edwido, Spy bot, Adaware, and Windows defender. ( That aught to take care of the little blighters ! )
Went online and downloaded all the updates for Windows and finally installed a few programs like open office and Nero etc.

All went well and the PC is performing as it should.
I have not connected a TV input so not tested the card yet.
I will increase the ram to the 1 Gig sweet point soon as 512 seems to be a bit slow.
All in all well pleased with PC at the cost payed.

They're selling these Medions new in Makro for the same price, only you've got to add on VAT.
