t+c state that your account must have been opened by 12/11/2008, see below.good deal but horse has already bolted.

For those that applied for a Tesco Savings Account between 18th September and 12th November 2008.

Please note: As long as we have received your application by the 12th November and you have the required balance in your account on the 30th November you will be awarded the Clubcard Points.

6% is still a good rate as Halifax are offering 5.5% at present but that is likely to reduce soon.

Yeah not bad although you lose 1.5% bonus after 12 months.

it seems that 6.5% is including the 1.5% bonus on balances over £1000.00
the rate will drop by .5% on 27th nov
and the clubcard points offer was only for people signed up between 18th sept and 12th nov.
still a good interest rate for a none isa but you will pay tax on your interest. the good thing is withdrawals dont affect the interest, most banks dont pay interest in any month where a withdrawal is made.

EDIT: was beaten to it, but still it's worth noting.

only allowed to do this once cos of the 1000clubcard points. I did this a few years ago and got turned down after closing down the account and trying to open another for another 1000 pts.

don't worry if you have missed the date, they will do it again in a couple of months

As the points have gone you may like the AA savings account -- 6.46% instant access
Seems to be a hassle free account to put your money away in (as per Martins money site).

I have just opened this account. It took Tesco more than 2 weeks to cash my cheque and open the account. Following that you have to sign up online and send them a signature, and once you receive your activation code back you can finally complete the registration. Not exactly slick or quick. I'm not saying don't go for it, but bear in mind that it will take a while to set up. Only send them a small opening cheque so you don't loose too much interest in the meantime.

they sent me the form to sign on the 7th and posted it back the same day along with a 10k cheque, and but heard back from them yet

they are reducing the interest by 0.5% later this month so will be 6% which is still good.
