Setanta have a poor reputation for unsubscribing - see http://www.iamlivid.com/2007/09/04/setanta-sports/ - but if you are up for a fight you can get a two-month subscription, incuding Christmas and New Year, for £1. Make sure you cancel before the two months are up or you'll be paying £12.99 a month. I used credit card rather than direct debit. And it's useful to buy today's Daily Mirror so you have the written evidence in front of you.

was there a code for this £1 a month in the paper ( i hate setanta , they wont deal with me no more ) so i guess they hate me back , but theres sky at my mums for a quid a month tho , ill take some of there ******** over the phone , thats all of couse if there isnt a stupid connection charge

I used credit card rather than direct debit.
If that's not a typo then that's just about the worst thing you could have done. At least with direct debit you can request a reversal from your bank, which they are obliged to do. Giving Setanta a credit/debit card number is a recipe for pain & anguish.

Dude - credit card is a bad idea. Once you set up a recurring payment with the card company you cant cancel it in the same way you can cancel a direct debit. My mate had the same problem, Setanta didn't acknowledge his cancellation letters and kept debiting his card and the card company couldn't stop it.

You could report your card lost/stolen but I'm not sure that would work - I lost my credit card yet a few moths later Play managed to charge a pre-order to the old card number that went through fine.

I'd check it out with your card company as soon as - forewarned being forearmed and all that

This man is talking sense, you are in for a world of trouble!
I tried canceling with Setanta for ages they even acknowledged it but just kept taking payments
& said they had no records of my calls.
Don't cause yourself the hassle & just steer clear of these cowboys, use sopcast

Setanta are an absolute nightmare to deal with when it comes to cancellations. It took me 4 months to get them to cancel the subscription. Once bitten, forever shy.

You would think so wouldn't you - the problem is when they dont acknowledge you and carry on taking money. If you do have to go for this then go by direct debit - that way you can fulfill your part of the T&Cs by emailing your notice of cancellation and cancelling with your bank. Under no circumstances give them a credit card or debit car dnumber
