This is probably a 2.5" drive, not 3.5" like the one you've linked to.

This will be bus powered.

Always makes me laugh when people vote stuff cold when they obviously dont know anything about the item in the deal. This is a 2.5 USB powered PORTABLE(pocket) drive. The 1TB is a 3.5 DESKTOP drive with seperate power supply, the size of a brick and is not portable. These are not the same. Standard price for this PORTABLE drive is £100. This is a stunning price with a voucher.

HOT!

This portable drive contains a Samsung Spinpoint M6 500GB 2.5" disk, which costs more to buy as a bare drive than this setup. See this thread to see how to extract it.

These aren't much smaller than external desktop drive?
My external 3.5" is 7" x 4.5 " and is very portable.
Can get a 1TB for less.
Can't see the big advantage of getting this so have to vote cold.

How much smaller is one of these than an external desktop drive?
My external 3.5" isn't that big and is portable.

You also have to lug a power pack around as well dont you ?

the 2.5" ones arnt much bigger than a fag packet

Lots smaller, and no power adaptor as it's bus powered. You get 3 of these roughly to one external drive in size / weight.

Power pack isn't that big or heavy.
2" x 1" bigger is no big deal as far as I'm concerned if I'm getting twice the hard drive space.

"You get 3 of these roughly to one external drive in size / weight"

I disagree...1.5 to one of these

As mentioned above you can remove the drive and slip it into your laptop or PS3 or whatever, something you obviously can't do with a 3.5" drive.

I suppose like most things on here, it just depends on what your circumstances are.

Certainly, there will be lots of people who don't want to 'slip it into' a laptop/ps3, or indeed carry it onboard an aircraft in their flightbag. I'm sure these people, myself included, will want more storage for the money I'm afraid...
