Probably not as good as 'real' gaming-grade mice like a Logitech MX5128 or G5 Laser, but not too bad a price for a LASER mouse for general use.....

This was only £5.99 at Play last month. It was posted on here and quite a few people got one: most were very impressed (myself included).

It's a decent product for the price, but it's now double the price it was a month ago!

I have just started to play pool online! im'e using an optical mouse at the moment and not doing to bad. Would using one of these make me play better or is it only for certain types of games.

Nope, the only advantage of laser is that it works on a couple more surfaces than optical. With the pixels on our screens being so large a decent mouse is perfectly precise whether it's ball, optical, laser or blue-track so precision is not a reason for picking one technology over another. (assuming decent quality mice of course)
