Similar spec. to NC10, but not as nice.

However the 3 year warranty looks tempting.

Samsung NC10, just google it.

The NC10 is still £60 more expensive however without discounts. Does this have a 6 cell battery?

Saw this in Aldi mag earlier - spec is as good as NC10
some software with it , 3 year warranty and rated by some of the PC reviews

surprised its so cold ,

its supposed to be the battery that lets it down - but they have upped tsome spec since reviews - bigger hard drive, not sure if the have upped the battery.

If the QVC channel NC10 on Friday/Sat turns out to be a bum deal - might look at this.

its not showing on Aldi web site yet.

Reviews say its not a bad looking thing.

This is a rebadged MSI Wind U100; same hardware and the same as the Advent 4211 built by MSI for DSG. The only dfferences are in the software and the accessories it ships with. It's very similar in specs to the Samsung NC10, with the main difference being a standard 3-cell battery compared with a 6-cell in the Samsung. If battery life is not too important i.e. you will power it off the mains or a car battery then this is a good choice. If you need a bigger battery then the £40ish 6-cell battery may steer you towards the Samsung. The 3 year warranty is a bonus.

The Medion also has a weaker webcam - 0.3MP as opposed to the Wind/Advent's 1.3MP. The other difference being that the internal wifi card is 802.11n, the power pack is supposedly larger and the bluetooth is not integrated, so you lose a usb port.

But the screen only has 0.6 megapixels and I shouldn't think most people's internet connections can handle streaming 1.3 mega pixel video so the usefulness of a higher megapixel camera is questionable (especially when the quality of the two is unknown).

Not judging it, merely stating facts. It may matter to some.

I have never really used the webcams on the laptops I have, so it is of minimal interest to me. I have read there are suggestions that all the Wind/Advent cameras default to 0.3MP for streaming with the higher resolution only for static images, so the lower resolution on the Medion may be a moot point, anyway. Judging from the German Wind web forum, where the Medion is by far prevalent, the biggest bugbear seems to be the non-integrated bluetooth and the larger power adapter.
