It's the due date that matters, not the date of arrival. The same thing happened a couple of years ago about changes to SMP - and the due date was used then to assess eligibility, not the actual date....

bad luck, chocolate lover. Could you ask your friendly midwife to alter your DD by 1 day? I'm sure he/she would oblige ...

If you read the post you would realise this grant is NOT needs tested, its available to anyone who is expecting a baby, whether they are 14 and on benefits or 35 and not. Next time actually read the post.

Not a great start on here.

I was 18 when I gave birth to my son, yeah but no but, and I haven't swapped him for a westlife CD, it was a greenday cd actually yeah but no but.

Seriously though, children are hard enough to look after without worrying about money to buy them things. I know someone who's actually become worse a parent the older she's grown- she was 29 when she first gave birth so there's no real excuse! I hope that I do a good job with my son,and although I'm 21 and my son will be 3 on New Year's Eve, I feel like I look after him a lot better than mothers who are older than me (I went past the school at 3pm when they were picking up their and I'm not joking I saw a woman who was in her 30s with a can of carling picking her kids up, and another woman she was with told the drunk mother's kid to F off- he was about 5!!!!! I swear on my son's life it happened, I was so shocked!!!)

So yeah to sum it all up- please think before you say anything because we're not all as bad you.

My baby is due 22nd March!!! This is sooo typical of my luck!! Oh well a great thing for those who are eligible for it!! The cost of a new baby is extortionate and thats just buying nappies never mind the rest!!

Asda's own nappies are really good, I only discovered them when my son's in the size 6 but they're like huggies quality which I think are better than pampers lol.

Just to point out, this offer isnt just to those people who are getting handouts, its for working mothers/families too no matter what the earnings.

Banned? Surely not - maybe it didn't need said, maybe it could have been dressed up differently, but it is fairly accurate - perhaps if we were experiencing a severe case of population decline, then encouraging reproduction could be understood.
