Canon EOS 50D + 18-200mm Lens + 8Gb flash drive + 8Gb CF card + £75 Canon voucher + Quidco - £1076.58 @ Jessops

£1076.58

73°

Here's what you get if you collect the above in store at Jessops:
Canon EOS 50D SLR
Canon EF-S 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 IS Lens
Sandisk 8GB Cruzer Micro USB Flash Drive
Sandisk Extreme III 8GB CompactFlash
£75 voucher to be used in-store against Canon products.

The CompactFlash card is actually changeable to anything you like up to the value of £50 for free (use discount code XMAS50).

Not sure if QuidCo works if you collect in-store. If you have it delivered, you don't get the £75 Canon voucher but you would get the QuidCo which would work out at about £27

The camera and lens alone are £1,220 at Amazon. Next best price according to Camerapricebuster is £1130 so this represents an excellent package.

40d body only is £485. 18-200 is £390. So that's £875 and doesn't include the 50mm, £60, memory card, £30 and memory stick, £10. £975 total, so about £100 cheaper

Quite how the 40d is better than the 50d though, I'd like to hear your reasoning for that statement.

I bougt a Sony a300 DSLR through Jessops and reserved for instore pickup and so far the Quidco has also tracked (it's at the validated stage currently) so you might be able to get the best of both worlds.

4.5 MP/cm² vs 3.1 MP/cm²

and the 50d because of the dense sensor does not work as well as the 40d in low light conditions. ie high iso. and the 20d works better at high iso than both.

I was thinking of upgrading i could of used my grip with this model too but due to those 2 issues not upgrading to the 50d. Price wise for a newbie sure why not it comes with a newbie lens.
