EXPIRED - ZyXEL PLA-401 Twin Pack PowerLine HomePlug AV 200Mbps Ethernet Adapters £48.92 @ Amazon

£48.92

393°

FOUND BY: megalomaniac 1 year, 1 month ago

This is the best price I could find for these including delivery, they are slightly cheaper at Scan (£48.75) but they charge £6.99 delivery taking the total to £56.79.

Manufacturer's Description:

The ZyXEL PLA401 PowerLine HomePlug AV 200Mbps creates a simple high performance home network ideal for streaming high definition video content, audio streaming, gaming and Internet connectivity. It allows your home to be completely networked using your existing plug sockets with setup consisting of 2 easy steps:

1) Connect your PLA400 to any existing plug socket and router
2) Connect another PLA400 to any networked device and then plug in

Additional ZyXEL PLA401 PowerLine HomePlug AV 200Mbps units can be added where required to extend the coverage of your home network.

The PLA401 is the right product for you if:
* You need to connect an Ethernet device requiring a high bandwidth connection such as a HDTV media adapter, games console or more, to your home network
* No power leads - integrated plug enables you to connect straight into your plug socket
* You want to reach locations that your wireless does not cover or where wireless does
not give the required performance
* You want to relocate your PC somewhere else in your home

Easy to Install
* Simple to install with integrated plug design, simple to use, up and running in less than a minute!
* Extend your Internet access to any location around your home by simple connection to a plug socket
* The PLA401 runs on your home electrical mains circuit, it therefore does not suffer the similar interference, dead spots, or performance issues associated with wireless
* 3x the distance of standard Ethernet - up to 300 metres coverage between PLA401's

Security
* Automatically create a secure network
* The network only extends as far as your electricity meter and uses 128-bit AES encryption for peace of mind
* Your network is contained within your mains circuit and is not visible to your neighbours!

Speed
* Up to 200Mbps performance - perfect for streaming high definition video, music, email, web browsing and making broadband telephone calls at the same time!
* Media Traffic Control to ensure time sensitive applications like voice and video are given priority over standard email and Internet traffic

Advanced Features
* Advanced software is available on the CD. This is not essential to get your PLA401 network up and running

Seems decent... Been using ZyXel router for a couple of years and probably the best router I've come into contact with so if this measures up then should be well worth the pennies!

Speaking of routers, if someone needs one, these should be a good fit for one of the following:

Does anybody know if these are compatible with Devolo and Solwise 200mb adapters? These are the ones I am currently using.

"This is the best price I could find for these including delivery, they are slightly cheaper at Scan (£48.75) but they charge £6.99 delivery taking the total to £56.79." I reckon this line is why this isn't scorching - lots of people on here qualify for one or other free delivery at scan offers. That said, with nectar points at amazon (24p worth or 48p if double points still on), this is the best deal regardless.

They've been this price at Amazon for some time....http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/27197...d.php?t=271973

I bought a pair a few months ago and can fully recommend them

Don't know about compatibility with other brands though.

It's also worth remembering these are nearly £80 at eBuyer and over £70 pretty much everywhere.

Yep they were this price then went back up to around £96. They've just come down recently again and, like gverschoor, I've just got mine today that I ordered on Saturday

Looks like these require a wall socket fairtly high off the floor.

Can some confirm the practicalities of using thees (do the RJ45 insert at the bottom).

RJ45 out of the bottom, ok on a double plate to fit another plug into that plate. You will need about 8-9cm from bottom of standard face plate to the ground.

So unless you plug socket is mounted on or extremely close to your skirting board, and you skirting board is anything other than extremely slim, all should be okay. I would have thought all new builds will be okay, and older property will have skirting boards higher that 9cm

I've got a pair. Yes the socket is at the bottom but it doesn't mean the socket has to be high off the floor? Ours are the usual height, 6-8" I guess and its perfectly fine.
