I would personally look at a seperate amp and speakers... These all in 1 systems are terrible, lack inputs and when one thing goes faulty the whole lot is useless as opposed to replacing the individual piece.
Fair comment however, they are more than adequate for most homes and at the prices these kind of things are coming down to; it's probably going to be cheaper & easier to replace the whole lot rather than find a speaker that matches what you have already so that balance of sound is correct etc etc. It's not going to owe anybody much if they get 3 or more years out of it is it?
