Panasonic TH42PX80B (42" Plasma TV - HD Ready - Freeview - Inc spks & stand - With 5 year at home warranty) £549.90 (or £499.95 with 1 Year Warranty) instore @ Richersounds

£549.90

245°

FOUND BY: col 10 months, 3 weeks ago

Previously posted at £549.95 without the 5 YEAR GUARANTEE. Costs £499.95 without the warranty.

Same TV got voted very hot when posted for £499 with 1 year warranty from Currys of all places ;)

Although its not 1080p you won't get a much better screen this size for handling SD material and still stunning with HD.

cheaper here including the warranty - 499. as previous posters said, if you go instore they'll match the 499 online and Panasonic are doing the 5 year warranty with them since they're included on Panasonic's list of retailers

Hmmmm, impressive feedback from established reviewers.

Although one of the main criteria I was looking for was 1080p and hence an LCD (1080p plasmas too expensive for little old me), its hard to ignore everybody banging on about plasmas all the time, and then if you take into account the size and price of this TV I'm now seriously considering this plasma now. Definitely hot!

I think the Panasonic 5 year warranty is only available for instore purchases at Empire Direct not online purchases.

Worth noting Panasonic's offer of 5 year Warranty for purchases at certain stores expires 31st December 2008.

That's right but the poster in the other thread had the 499 online price matched instore

If Empire Direct match online price then it would be worthwhile but Warranty offer ends in 2 days time so would have to be quick if you are near one of their 16 stores

If you go with Richer Sounds and don't use the Warranty this will still be cheaper

an ex richer sounds employee on another thread said you dont get the cash back on the TV warranty only on the others - seems odd but couldnt find the warranty T+C to check

It seems the refund for an unused warranty is only for 5 Year Supercare excl Plasmas. Still good value for a 5 year warranty anyway.

As a previous owner of a Panasonic Plasma and currently an owner of a Sony W2000 1080p LCD, I can confirm that freeview/Sky i.e SD programming looks much better on the Plasma. Though the LCD looks really clear for HD Material PS3 and X360.
