It means it supports a higher resolution than HD.

Full HD is 1920 x 1080.

Is the veiwing angle, better on this model than the Dell 24" 1080p which was around £180 2 months ago.

the monitor u are talking about is called the s2409w and its around £200-240 online now. It has a viewing angle of 160° / 170° and the monitor on this post (sp2309w) is 160° / 170° aswell so their is no difference with viewing angle but there is a difference with CR, more features and a better resolution.

I have the s2409w monitor myself and find the build quality great and the viewing angle hasn't been a problem in normal usage, if I didn't have that monitor I would be very keen on this one, good webcam built in too! H & R added.

I think that "HD" is just a buzzword we use now because we're used to lower definition. There is no real high definition, just varying levels of resolution.
