Nintendo Wii kaput.

My sister bought a Wii back in Dec 2007 and just 13 months later the thing has given up the ghost. Anyone know if Nintendo will fix this for free as it's only just out of warranty, you expect something that has cost £180 to last longer than 13 months.
Rep for any help.
Thanks.

Also assume the psu may have broke , see one of your mates and try your wii on their psu.

I had a prob with a set of alpinestars motorbike boots nearly 200 quid.
Contacted them direct and mentioned that they were a month out of the 12 month warranty.
    Replaced no probs.

Most companies are quite good this way.

Just remembered I did the same thing with a set of 300 quid gigaworks surround speakers, they were 3 weeks outwith the 2 year warranty, Creative sent me a brand new sub amp for them free of charge.

i'd just phone them up and not even mention the warranty just say you dont know if it has warranty but your not happy with it breaking after such a short time,
my son stuck 3 dvd's in my wii, i managed to get them but it wouldnt work,i phoned them and just said it had stopped working and they sent for it to be picked up and a week later sent me a new one for free, although i was expecting to have to pay.
if you dont ask you wont get!!!

What counts as a reasonable time?

13 months could be argued as a reasonable time as the item cost £180 so thats 46p a day.

Just give them a call, you wont know if you dont find out. Simples.

If they refuse you have the right to take them to small claims, will cost you about £40 though but if you win they will have to pay, they won't even let it go to small claims as it won't be worth their effort.

I was thinking along those line that they may fix it when it's just out of warranty.
Anybody had any success with Nintendo regarding this and just out of warranty repairs/ replacements.
