Happy New Year!
talk about indulgences ... we were spoilt rotten, everyone brought champs – we had the Bollys, Cliquets, Moets, Doms etc ... i drank more than my fill as we had a lot of food throughout [5 types of starters including some smoked salmon, salmon sashimi, our sushi, crudités w melted camembert (i prefer camembert with cranberry though)] followed by a 'steamboat' main course (someone joked you had to take off your clothes for the 'steam bath' which of course got us a little worried lol) it looked like a very healthy dish, done in reverse order to the usual ... veges thrown into the pot (which is on a hot plate that you can also fry up/bbq if you wish) first then small pieces of meat then it soon boils down to soup stock as you put in several layers/cycles, then you add in the noodles at the end and finish it all off. nothing wasted really. then off to desert – savoury biscuits with different types of cheeses, out came the Sauterney (desert wine, grand cru). yummy truffles, which were surprisingly from Costco! new tip, the truffles went very well with the Tallisker reserve ...
then a mad rush for texting and calling loved ones leaving messages to say Happy New Year when we realised it was a quarter to midnight! all adjourned into the living room and Hootenany was counting down, the champs was ready and all cheered to the London fireworks ... that was pretty elaborate and at one point it looked OTT with the sky going totally white like a mushroom cloud lol! (although on the morning news, it looked like Edinburgh's fireworks display was more spectacular!)
we stayed over, i plopped into bed about 15 mins before the party ended – was about 3am at that stage! woke up about 10am talking with the OH in bed, until our hostess had gotten up then we had a chat as
our hostess was so organised they had (manually) cleared the table and washed the dishes sometime between cheering and going to bed. all that was left to do was morning coffee and lunch with the leftovers, and of course chatting about things. oh and bringing all the bottles out for recycling!
all in all seems a pretty chilled out party. there were 7-8 people which was a nice group.
we're now waiting for the Oz friends to pop by after their shopping in Bluewater. Although we suspect they're probably too pooped to come by, maybe later ... the OH has to go to work tomorrow, i will be doing more accounts tying up loose ends and clearing up. saturday we'd planned to meet a couple friends for lunch at the Elk (havent seen them a little less than a year!) and maybe two more people individually. or maybe one on Sunday we'll see try do all in one day giving Sunday a day of proper rest before the 1st day of work *bleah wish there was maybe another few days more .... hehe.

saw Times Square celeb with Clinton dancing with Hillary, nice to see them enjoying it.
100 lightbulbs dropped from on high and crashing to give that 'ring'? hmm
