quite expensive and not really worth the initial premium of £69.99

Please can you be more helpful? can you provide a link to a better £35 drill for the odd bit of diy rather than just being critical. Thanks.

Almost too good to be true - a 3 amp/hour lithium battery *and* a drill for £35 - the battery alone (if it is of any sort of quality) is worth twice that. A makita 3a/h battery is £88.
With no recognisable brand or torque quoted I'm very suspicious of the quality and expected life for this one.......
Thanks for the pointer to this one though

It's not a case of linking to a drill for £35. If it's not worth spending £35 on a drill - that's the problem.

As has been said, a £35 no-name drill will likely be useful only as a screwdriver as it will lack power for anything more taxing. Hence, it's an expensive screwdriver. :D

There's a Makita on Screwfix that's far better for not a huge amount more (£80):

After charging for 6hours (says 3-5 but since its first charge) I took it out and used it.

Sturdy build, handy battery power indicator, and the light is a good idea........but it lasted 10mins and seemed much slower than a 4yr old £25 challenge drill it was replacing! After looking I found that it is the same model Argos sell (in there sale as well - Link http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...4V+Lithium+Ion) and the spec is lacking
* No load speed 0-550rpm.
* 10mm keyless chuck.
* 21 torque settings.
* 3-5 hours charging time.
* 1 gear.
* 1 x 1.3Ah lithium battery.
* LCD battery capacity indicator.
* Carry case.

Hope this is helpful
