good ram. Mine runs at 1200MHz+ so if you're into that kind of thing you should consider this ram!

On a different note, why are cpu prices on the up but the memory on the down? Was looking at buying a Intel Quad core Q6600 cpu (and have been for a few months) but at £150+ it's out of my budget range - they use to be around the £110 mark.

Slow in production which pushes the prices up. Some have come down though the Q9550 has dropped to £220.

I know! Bit the bullet thugh and bought one last week at scan for £135 - its in their today only deals quite a lot at that price if you check Not too bad for a great processor.

Think the value of the pound isnt helping. Memmory coming down as DDR3 is out so DDR2 will drop slowly...

gutted i payed about £160-£140 early last year....for my Q6600, overclocked to 3.18Ghz,

tho most apps dont use all four cores so ya mite wanna get a Dual core instead... tho the Q9550 is that the one that overclocks like mad?

Yes quads aren't always that great with alot of software. When I'm video encoding my E8300 is faster that my mates stock q6600 as the software isn't coded for quad core processors. Your right the Q9550 on the right MB and enough cooling does indeed fly.

What is he using to encode video with, as video encoding on my Q6600 is silly fast. For 3Ds Max etc its great!
