Alliance & Leicester £100 to switch current account + possible £50 Quidco

474°

FOUND BY: White Knight 10 months, 2 weeks ago

STARTS: 05/01/2009

Same offer that was on until end of Oct 2008. I have been waiting for this to come back around as I missed it the first time. It has restarted today.

Below is the link for the previous listing for the October offer.
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deal/202600/alliance-leicester-100-to-switch-cu/

Basically if you transfer your account you get a £100 credit, provided you meet the not too difficult criteria. You must fund at least £500 per month to the account and you must use their transfer service to switch, and you must also have a direct debit to switch.

Similar to the First Direct offer, except they specify that you must pay either £1500 of deposits or a £10 fee every month.

Please be kind as this is my first post, please add to or edit as necessary.

Edited to add a link for article about this offer.

Seems like a good deal if you are prepared to switch your banking services.

Given the **** treatment i've had from HSBC over my current account (which also was not of my choosing, and had a forced account type change) for this that and the other, i'm sorely tempted by this.

I've only skim-read it, but can anyone see anywhere where it says you can't already have any account type with A&L already, in order to qualify? As i've already got a basic bank account with them, and would prefer to keep that as well..

All I can see is where it says "Customers are not eligible for this offer if they currently hold or have held in the past 3 months any Alliance & Leicester or Abbey current account"

Tempting, I'm with Halifax at the moment and moved to them 18 months ago when they had a similar offer. Move was surprisingly painless, think they only missed one DD move, but that was an odd one that goes out middle of the month.

I was considering A&L when they had the high interest on their current account, but this offer doesn't apply to that account. But then again, £100 bonus is worth much more than the extra interest on the first £2,500.

I did this for myself and the Girlfriend the last time, we have both got the £100 from A&L but still waiting for cashback from Quidco.

Voted cold as for £100 it is not worth the hassle to switch all DD's etc. They are bound to mess it up, plus I am happy with my Bank, and take advantage of free mobile phone ins etc.

Hmm, even still, might be worth a shout - could always go in and ask them in-branch about it RE: eligibility, before going ahead and applying for it; as i'm pretty sure the account type i've got now with them isn't a current account, per se.

Appreciate the help anyway, bud

I did this last week for the premium acc and it never tracked. As soon as I receive my docs through the post I will call and ask for the £100 to be credited!

heres what you guys should do. set up one bank account and get the free incentive, i did this with the co-op free £100 offer last september. DONT use it at all, just deposit and withdraw the minimum requirements to fulfill the incentive, then use this account when the next offer comes along, and just becasue you dont have any DD's to transfer doesnt mean you have not used the service. Or, if like this offer you have to have a DD, then it may be worthwhile putting one of your long term smaller DD's onto it, like say an insurance payment or the gym membership
i have transfered the co-op DD's (non existant) to abbey to get there £100 incentive, and will then do the same from abbey to this A&L one now.
me and the wife have accounts, thats £200 each time.

its quite easy really, always leapfrogging one account. I always close the oldest account (i.e the third now defunct) once it has paid out.

Voted hot! I did this a few months back and got both £100 credited to my bank account and £50 Quidco. It took about 3 months for the money and Quidco to be credited but got there in the end.

The switching of Direct Debits etc also went very smoothly. They are also a much easier bank to deal with that my last one (Halifax).
