The 3 issues for a £1 deal is also appealing.

be warned i signed up to this deal in july of last year and recieved my first copy of the 12 month deal in january. This is a shady way to do business in my opinion. Cold from me.

Also, the magazine has about 12 pages and 8 of them are advertisements and the other 4 are reviews on the products advertised!!! (slight exageration i know, but you get the point!)

Hot if you like the magazine. Check out a copy before you sign up, though - there are always deals on the subscriptions and there's a very good reason for that. You'll see what I mean if you have a look at a copy.

I can concur with this - I subscribed as a gift for Christmas for my mum (in November) and we didn't get the first issue until April. It took me ages to get in touch with them to find out why and eventually got an email saying it was because the new issues weren't out until then.... thought that a bit odd - and even worse when I got a reminder in October saying my subscription was about to expire! I emailed again statating that I expected to receive magazines until March - no response from them so far!!!!!

To avoid disappointment - i'd avoid these guys!

Even better is the US Esquire subscription.

"12 issues for just $8.00 – SAVE 83%!
24 issues for just $12.00 – SAVE 87%!
36 issues for just $16.00 – SAVE 89% — Best Deal!"

Those include delivery to the UK

I subscribed last year and the first issue came 6 weeks later. The writing in the US version really is brilliant, unlike the UK version which, well is quite pathetic really. I read every issue cover to cover.

Not quite:

"Non-US subscribers will be charged an additional US$1.00 per issue for Esquire for shipping."

Still, I got 2 years of US Esquire for $36 which is pretty reasonable IMO.

Are you sure? It says 'Non-US subscribers will be charged an additional US$1.00 per issue for Esquire for shipping.' at the bottom of the page.

Using xe.com's currency converter, 12 issues would set me back $20 which is £13 ish so it's roughly £1.10 an issue. In effect for 12 months subscription, UK & US versions cost the same.

I signed up for this last year and can confirm that the magazine consists of vacuous drivel and pompous opinionated nonsense separated by adverts. Its also too glossy for alternative uses.

I really hate these magazines. Why would I want to pay for a magazine full of adverts?

Better off reading the Argos catalogue!

The American Esquire magazine is top notch stuff. Probably some of the finest magazine writing there is. Easily on par with the New Yorker. I have never been disappointed when I buy one for a flight or long trip. The English esquire on the other hand is just a lad mag.

I've just got my first issue of Esquire bang on time if not a little early. I've had a quick flick through it and it does seem to be packed out mostly with ads and the rest being pretentious articles. No wonder it's sealed on the newsagent shelves.
