Thought #1: What are poundshops going to do about the effects of inflation in a couple of years time? Will they become One-pound-twenty-five-pee shops?

Thought #2: Why haven't pound shops reduced their prices in response to the VAT cut and become 97p shops...?

Hmmmm.....

1: They will just screw suppliers (China) more and more.
2: The vat rate is temporary and they sell some items as loss leaders anyway, so a chance to claw something back.

Good points though andy, they cant stay pound shops for ever!!

Completely off thread, but I saw in todays paper that a poundshop had closed due to competition from a 99p store opening across the road!
