Olympus Mju 850 SW (shock and water resistant) £136.04 delivered @ Amazon

£136.04

39°

FOUND BY: morales 10 months, 1 week ago

Got this camera last year, and most of my friends also have this camera (we windsurf). Its great, we can take it with us out on the water to film/photograph good footage. The picture quality is amazing, and there are several functions you can use to improve the quality. Despite me having dropped it a couple of times, theres barely any visible scratches.
9/10 camera for me, and i paid £185 for it last year.

note: when i bought mine last year, i recieved a small xD card slot thing that would take microSD cards. So i could take my phone memory card and put it into my camera when i ran out of space on my other xD card. good lil backup.

also, if you buy an official olmpus xD card, you can take panoramic pictures (i've never tried to do so myself, so can't comment on the quality and ease)

That's an awesome price for this camera. I have the 770, and it's almost me proof!

Although the mju 850 SW continues the rugged tradition of its predecessors, with bomb-proof build quality, attractive design and excellent overall performance, its restricted zoom range and limited list of features are starting to look a bit dated in today’s market. At £155 it is attractively priced, but compared to the superior photographic capabilities of the Pentax W60 it looks a bit weak, and its relatively poor picture quality is also a disadvantage.

A quick search shows Pentax W60 for £169 from Bristol Cameras. Thought people might be interested in an alternative. Wide Angle lens from 28mm to 140mm (35mm equivalent). I think Olympus has really lost their way in the last two years.

I have the 10MP version, paid about £230 last year I think. Picture quality isn't great but seeing as the lens is inbuilt and it is a rugged camera you can't grumble. Great price for this version.

I disagree. Pentax W60 is not better quality, i know for a fact, as the store supervisor at my local photograph shop told me they never got mju's returned for repairs, but loads of w60's, so they stopped selling the w60.

i couldn't see a great deal of picture quality difference between the 10MP and 8MP. in fact i didn't like the 10MP as it was really bulky and heavy.

Available here for a £1 cheaper with delivery but has a 2 year warranty included : http://www.camerabox.co.uk/product1....FYoH3godyWtRnA

I have the 790 SW, got it from Tesco last year for £64....great for holidays as the kids can use them in the water and on the beach safely... pictures are not the best but ok. Definately worth having a longer guarantee on any digital camera I find though.
