Biker Jeff:
They really are specific to riding off road. Motocross boots are made really tough and have solid plates in because of the protection you need off road. I find them way too stiff for normal motorcycle riding, and they are a nighmare to walk in.
Ordinary motorcycle boots are a lot cheaper than these and will be more suited to road riding.
Do the cheaper, lighter and easier to walk in ordinary bike boots compromise safety compared to these, considering ordinary road use? How does the stiffness affect braking and changing gear and coming to a full stop?
I always think you can't have enough protection, unless the protection itself becomes dangerous, which is the question above, it that makes sense.
