I just thought this would be an ideal present for someone you knew was a child in the 80s - this would bring back great memories and prove you'd put some thought into the gift. Or if you remember the original fondly and can't be bothered to dig out your gramophone to play the LP having them on CD in the same original style packaging might just bring a smile to your face.
Yes you could get the tracks cheaper but it's not just about that is it? Does everything HAVE to be a bargain that can be sold for more on ebay these days?!!! Isn't it worth that little bit extra to remind you of better times (like the early 80s with its miners strikes and Falkland wars...!).
You are right, it's more a novelty item than anything else. It isn't collectable, not really. This will sell in six figures. It's not a great album in it's own right, most of the tracks are a bit kack really.
So, you are left with a retro-reprint worth £5.99 that is being sold at 200% of that price tag.
I'd buy it for it's nostalgia value alone at £5.99. But definately not at this price. jmo
