Wow brilliant! Includes server 2008 - nice one if you're a student!
Looks like if your kid is at High school and they sign up to dreamspark then your kid can download it too (or if you are at high school etc ...)
Heat & rep (even though i've got no way of getting this!)

I got :

XP pro
VS 05 (pretty good)
V PC
VISTA business
server 03

and a few other things free from my uni, but some of the things you listed are not on there. I might just download them for fun-zies and store them on my External HDD in case I ever need them.

I need to install Ubuntu on this machine when I finish this year of uni, then can I triple-boot lol.

vote hot btw, dont see why anyone would vote cold.

imo i would try out the latest products if i still had a year or two at uni... this is cause by the time you start work they may just be rolling that product out.. say visual studio 2008... and you will already have experience with it so could help others out... BIG fat brownie points early on in ur career in a recession is gold.

I downloaded all of the ones that were available when i was in uni and stored the keys in a notepad file.

I hated linux when i was in uni and kept away from it... but i would tinker with it if i was u as lots of companies use it on servers... its ugly but free/fast/secure/reliable.. just what a company wants (I think the free is the biggest factor imo)

The truth of the matter is MS make very good products but carry on business practices which leave the world a poorer place, this i fear is one of them.
There is no way any company (limited number of engineers / expertise) can compete with open source (freely available to anyone) products in the long run... this explains why MySQL was bought for $1bn by Sun Microsystems. And why Mozilla absolutely OWNS IE. This guy is 100% right in everything he has said about MS...

But I still think this is a good deal...but because of what this guy said I did not vote.

Seriously, you're posting this deal like you're giving people free software for them to install on their home PC so they can play games and write letters to mum on a shiney new vista style OS.

These are SERVER OS's. They include stacks of server based services and applications, enhanced security layers, massively increased system resource requirements, etc. They are NOT for putting on home PC's as an alternative to getting a proper home OS like XP/Vista Premium. They will run like absolute **** and be a complete pain in the **** if you attempt to do this with them.

They are for students to install while they're on IT courses, so they can practice what they're learning. Its basically MS's way to draw students down into the MCSE route.
