Virgin trains have just released their cheapest (£1) tickets for the London-Manchester route up until March 20th. Get in early to book cheapest tickets, trains only take 2 hours 8 minutes.

Just booked 2 return tickets for £8 total.

Please note guys, you MUST board the train at LONDON and MANCHESTER to use these tickets. Don't buy them thinking you can board at Brum and travel to Manchester, or Brum to London because they'll just wind up charging you for a new ticket.

The trains generally go through Stoke which is the quickest route, although occasionally go through the slower route past Crewe, and depending on which route they take can stop at Milton Keynes or Watford. But they NEVER stop at Brum. if you are trying to get on half way through the journey, check that there is a manchester train to your station at the particular time! ive been caught out before and had to hotfoot it to another station!

the problem with mobitix is it is a mobile phone service only and one ticket per mobile phone. You and a friend want to go - you need 2 mobile phones and pray you get tickets together!
