First of all this will only be a good deal for a few people, but it's still a deal!

If you live in a cable area you could take Virgin TV's "M" package, which is free when you take out a Virgin phone line for £11.

You can then add the Sky Sports Package for £26 a month which adds up to £37 a month.

The same package with Sky is £35.50 plus your line rental to Sky or BT which would equal £46.50.

You can get Sky's free broadband (2gb) and free evening and weekend calls included in the £35.50 but these are basic and you probably would already have different suppliers for these.

Here is the list of channels with the Virgin package, not as big as Sky, but if you only want Sport then who cares! It also includes BBC iPlayer which is a bonus.

great service, great company, good deals and phone them up to get even more for less, after 12 months phone them up again and they will usually better the deal again.

If Sky did just a Premium Package (movies or sports) without the need for a entertainment package (all £16.50), and charged say £25 a month they would get loads more customers.

This doesn't include V+ plus, which is an extra £5 per month, but if you had a freeview PVR it wouldn't matter. Even with V+ it would still work out cheaper.

I am a big fan of Virgin Media (I have it) but you are not comparing like for like which is a bit unfair to say the least.

Sky price includes 3 mixes of "premium" content ie kids / knowledge / variety
Sky price includes broadband.

What I would say is if you added a complete package together the VIrgin pack would be cheaper (ie no charge for V+ or HD on XL TV package with Virgin, faster download speeds, no downlaod limits - although you do get speed capped or "traffic shaped"), but its unfair to compare 2/3rds of a sky pack against 1/2 of a virgin one, if that makes sense?

Like for like in this case would be £25 to add sky sports on virgin, and £20 to add it on sky. I think.

Although SKY do exactly the same marketing trick by not including the cost of a landline in their adverts
