Astraweb Announces Retention Upgrade to 270 Days

Astraweb is pleased to announce that we have just completed an infrastructure upgrade to increase our retention and improve our network.

Our retention is currently growing towards 270 days from 160 days. The latest retention statistics as our retention grows is available at:

http://www.news.astraweb.com/tools/stats.html

Our retention growth is for ALL groups. Our retention growth also includes headers, unlike many other services that do not include headers as part of their retention growth.

Along with our retention upgrade, Astraweb is also committed to provide the best network connectivity. As such, we have signed a new agreement with Level 3. The majority of our traffic will now be sent via Level 3, one of the best Tier 1 providers in the world!

Astraweb is committed to providing the best value service!

PS all prices include 20 connections and SSL

i would take the astraweb out again but it is so user unfriendly at least with torrents you know where you are you have to go all round the houses to get what you want

Astraweb is awesome!

Cannot be beaten at this price with the SSL and 270days retention!

I don;t understand why in this day and age why anyone would stick with Torrents. Its so unsafe and slow.

Usenet for me everyday of the week!

Been on this a while and it does max out a 20Mb Cable connection most of the time, except of course when Virgin are traffic shaping.

The upgrade to the retention is good because have been some things that I have wanted that required a greater retention in the past. Its not at 270 days at the moment as they only announced the incresed retention recently. I have stopped using the SSL because it used to take a few minutes to connect and I am very impatient, might turn it back on and try it again soon.

I have used Giganews and no doubt it is the best but it is over double the price. At this price Astraweb is a steal, pit about the poor exchange rate!

Deal has been on for awhile now but is still great value. I left Easynews after 6 years to join them and its been a good transition so far.

Having used Usenext for a few years with it's excellent software, I'm loathed to move, though I know other services can be cheaper. Is there a decent 3rd party newsreader that allows searches for ahem, stuff, and joins the posts painlessly? I used to use Secret Agent many moons ago but can't imagine doing without the Usenext software now.

basically means anything posted to a group in that amount of days is usually avaliable to download

Janeyjugs, i use grabit (http://www.shemes.com/) which for a small fee allows you to search upto 90-days, but theres many nzb sites out there, alot of them free, which alllow you to search upto 240 days. I use www.nzbsrus.com and www.nzbmatrix.com

How come this offer is only available through the OP's link and doesn't show up 'normaly' on their site?

I currently have an unlimited monthly plan with Newshosting ($15), and buy pay-by-download 120Gb chunks from Astraweb to use as fills as and when I need to. Sorely tempted by this offer.

Currently use powerusenet - have done for the past two to three years, and their service is fantastic.
Pay something like $15 pm for unlimited downloads, and it maxes out my 10mbit NTL connection.
They've just increased retention from 120 days to 200 days or something similar.

I have used astraweb previously [for 1 year] and they were OK, but they had regular downtime and incomplete posts hence my move to powerusenet.

Don't think powerusenet do the deal anymore that I am currenty on, hence don't want to cancel, but will give astraweb a month's use to see how this fair.

Thanks

Jav
