Panasonic 42PZ85BA Instore @ Comet for £799.99

£799.99

196°

FOUND BY: not_the_messiah 9 months, 2 weeks ago

Was in Derby Comet today and saw this on offer - I think it's a pretty good price. I know you can get it at www.electrical-deals.co.uk for about £715, but they charge £65 for delivery, they are graded and currently out of stock. There maybe cheaper alternatives, but a quick google didn't show up anything....

Hope this helps someone! Here's there blurb:

Take the award winning Panasonic TH42PX80 and add 1080p technology and you have perhaps what is the ultimate 42" plasma TV.

Equipped with all the very latest in plasma technology, the Panasonic TH42PZ85 is a symbol of just how far plasma TVs have come since the early days. Back then a contrast ratio of 30,000:1 would have seemed unthinkable; yet that's exactly what the TH42PZ85 has. When combined with the latest G11, 1080P screen, the results are truly stunning. Blacks are deeper than ever before and detail resolution is stunning. Reassuringly, although this is a Full 1080p Ready set, the TH42PZ85B doesn't neglect standard definition (SD) or 720p signals. Quality circuitry ensures that the Viera benefits are there, whatever the signal. All signals also benefit from 100Hz technology. 100Hz technology gives a more stable picture with less flicker and reduced motion blur. When all is said and done, we think you'll find the Panasonic TH42PZ85 produces one of the finest pictures you're likely to see from a 42" plasma.

In addition to offering a class-leading picture quality, the Panasonic TH-42PZ85B also offers an impressive sound quality. Although no match for a separate home cinema system, the V-Audio surround with BBE processing does offer a powerful, spacious sound quality.

Panasonic have also worked hard on the styling of their latest 1080p plasma TV. With a depth of just 79mm excluding the protruding portion, the TH-42PZ85B has a slimmer casing than previous Panasonic plasma TVs. The distinctive front lip and wedge-shaped stand also give it a character that's unique from other designs. For a taste of the future, look no further than the Panasonic TH-42PZ85.

To get the best from your plasma, we strongly suggest you professionally install your new purchase. All stores can recommend a local installer who should be able to help. Apart from the fact that our margins are minuscule, and we therefore can't afford to offer an at home service, sales assistants are neither trained, qualified nor insured to do installations. Having said that, we are happy to give advice in-store or over the phone where possible. For more info please contact your local store.

good find, pz80 and pz85 are one of the best plasmas in that price range, and they are hardly in stock...recently at least. and with a current euro exch rate, 799 is the best you can find.

are you sure that's the same model? I bought the 42PZ80 in November for £711 and nothing on any of the Panasonic PZ series came close after that from what I could find

Currys had 42PZ85 for £799 today instore. They didn't have any 42PZ80s as I specifically asked to find out the price of those in comparison - and because I wanted to do a price match with John Lewis and I don't think John Lewis stock the 42PZ85.

It might be 1080p and 100HZ, but does anyone know if it will make my coffee? Or take the dog for a walk?

I have a Panasonic 42PX80,£599 when I bought it, it's fabulous, the one you've found has an even better spec, though it is a lot dearer.

GF and I just bought this telly (from Comet for £799 with 6mo buy now pay later). It definately lives up to it's reputation, we are both very happy.

Only negative is there definate sign of green phosphor trails when playing COD5 - phospohor trails (so i'm told) are more noticible to some people than others and should reduce after a "bedding in period".

for this telly...if you can find it in stock
