These were over a grand new. Great sound for those who prefer a neater solution than a standard 5.1 system.

Yup it's a Yamaha. Best price I can see though!

Regarding the description though, it says 'True surround sound'. Can you technically have true surround sound from one speaker or is it a fib?

It uses 42 speakers to bounce sound off your walls. Never going to be able to compete with a good 'real' 5.1 system but a great alternative and obviously a magnitude of order better than a standard TV sound. Review here:

Sorry, it's just when you said 'one speaker'.

I guess there's no standard definition for 'surround sound'. This does give surround, just in a different way than having rear speakers. Sure, it will sound different, probably not as good as a similarly priced 5.1 system, but you are hearing deflected sound waves off rear/side walls.

Any lawyers here? :-)

Well I have one of the other yamaha sound bars and I know it makes it sound "True surround" is when my dog reacts to stuff on the TV and looks at the direction the sound came from (as in beside/behind) and not the direction of the speakers. How much more true can a sound get? It's surround sound not surround speaker :-)
