hot as the cheapest 4870 512mb to date.
If you have a extra £34 you can get a XFX 4870 1GB with company of heros bundle (183.99)+ delivery from over clockers. Which may be a better option.

I think this should be fine, as it has a non-stock cooler.

However, check that your PSU is up the mark power + connectivity-wise. Also check that you have enough room in your case - this has a cooler that juts out (occupying 1-2 adjacent slots) & is 9.5 inches long. Having a cool, well-ventilated case will help keep the card at a reasonable temperature too.

I think the photo of the card is a tad mis-leading?

The other 4870's (such as this one) are 2 slot monsters ...

The non-stock fans are normally better at cooling and often quieter because they don't spin as fast (due to the fact that they dissipate heat more efficiently).

This is what I got and I paid 190£ incl delivery from Ebuyer just before Christmas. The beauty of it is the 3yrs warranty and the cooler that can be detached without avoiding the warranty.
I currently have a Accelero Twin Turbo that put temperature from 70C under load to under 60C under load, under 50C idle, that is with a fan controller and fan speed at minimum. Very silent, too.

ps: the standard cooler is not that noisy, but it was too much for my setup. if you want a silent pc you will have to invest in a aftermarket cooler.
the card will not run GTA4 at maximum

over the years i have bought Thousands of £'s worth of stuff from overclockers and have recommended them to friends and family they are one of the best online stores i have dealt with. I have not had a single issue with them.

Q-Tec:

you can just barely use the PCI slot under the GPU i could easily move my sound card up a slot. but for better airflow i decided not too
