Wherever they are from, the VARIETY is one of the main factors as to whether they are worth buying at all, regardless of price.
Elsanta ones are plain awful - the Somerfield store I live near has these all the time, and even reduced down to as low as 1.29 they often just sit there and go out of date and turn to mush, so I am not the only one who isn't keen to buy at
any price!
The supermarkets have a lot to answer for when it comes to summer fruits and the all year round season

Sadly tasteless varieties grown only for year round in-season include other once-tasty fruit such as blueberries and raspberries, even Apricots
As someone who remembers the original 6 week British strawberry season, I doubt if I would have even become a strawberry fan at all now, when the only varieties you can buy are hard (you need to CUT out the hull, it will never pull out even when near rotten!), with white sour-to-tasteless interior pulp
There is better tasting fruit around I can spend £2 on; imported or UK grown!
