How long were you engaged before getting married?

My girlfriend is getting itchy ring finger, we've been together erm 7yrs. I want a spring/summer wedding so if I propose soon it will be over a year before we get married, so just curious what your circumstances were thanks.

I think it depends on each couple and each couples finances!

7 years is a long time, I say you propose and waiting until next summer spring seems a fair time!!

We were together just over 1 year before we got engaged but were engaged for 2 years before we got married.

My sister on the other hand has been engaged since December but has been with her (now) fiance for almost 6 years. Personally, I wouldn't have waited that long but we are very different!
Saying that, I think that you should propose now for a S/S wedding as it takes ages to plan plus you'll need to book the venue well in advance too as they get booked up fast particularly for fridays & saturdays.

Good luck & be romantic - don't forget it doesn't mean it has to be expensive!!!

i never got engaged. was together 3 years then decided to get married. only had 2 months to prepare and find dress etc.
