Great high-end DDR2 memory (using the same D9 Micron chips as found in Crucial Ballistix Tracer memory), I purchased this some weeks back for £55.00 and I can honestly say that I am chuffed with its performance. After installation of my Reapers, I have been able to push my rig further then before while overclocking.

After much stress testing (With Prime95 and IntelBurnTest) I have my Reapers and water cooled Q6600 running solidly on a Asus P5Q-Deluxe with x8 multiplier and 450 FSB which gives me a clock speed of 3600MHz and Rated FSB of 1800MHz. With a higher multiplier (x9) I can get a higher clock speed but a lower multiplier and higher FSB is always preferable.

For a reliable review of this memory see:

520 in stock at time of posting.

I'm looking to upgrade my current 1GB of RAM set up.
I have dual channel memory so my question is, do I have to have 2 of the same memory types or can I mix & match. i.e 2GB Samsung & 1GB some other make.
Thanks

best to have a matched pair of the same type....particularlyas you are running dual channel.

its always better to have them in matching pairs. mixing will work but not as good. also if you mix 2 different speeds with dual channel the speed will default to the slowest of the 2. make sure you check what speed/size your motherboard can handle. if you are thinking about these make sure they will fit in your case as with the heat sink they are about twice the height of normal RAM units

I paid over £300 a little over a year ago for 8gb of the lesser 800Mhz 6400 and they are great. i run them at the max 2.2v but this required a bios update, changing the bios settings, timings and nb voltage.

good stuff

This looks hot. Annoying though, just bought a 4GB kit of Crucial DDR2-800 for £40, would have probably opted for this instead and had some future-proof protection. Heat added.

Was that the crucial ballistic? If it is then you dont need to worry, they should be able to do 1000mhz easily as the majority did(last batch at ebuyer for £35). Mines running at 1000mhz cas 5 and at 1.95v(under the stock2v rated).

I would get this & get rid of the 1Gb you currently have. What motherboard (make+model) do you have btw?

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately they're just the standard Crucial sticks.

Sorry, I thought they were the Ballistix that were selling on Ebuyer for £36-38 not so long ago.

Even normal crucial ram seems to be quite good at overclocking so maybe give it a try.

Got these after 2 sets of 4x 1GB Crucial Ballistix sticks died on me. Were 110 when I got them from OCUK, got them direct exchange for my Ballistix.

Have never skipped a beat. Thinking of getting another set.
