You know, I think £50k is a lot of money for a car. However, if a brand new Audi RS6 popped up on here at this price I would vote HOT, because it's a good price for that product.

Now, the fact that you don't want one of these remotes does not change the fact that it's a good price for this product and as such is HOT...or at least a 'no vote'. Are you getting the hang of this yet?

Here, try this link, it may assist:

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/objectivity

In fact, hang on, I'll draw some pictures in crayon for you...
hmm not the best comparison, the audi rs6 is an excellent car but £70K for a saloon is insane...and yes i can afford one (but i wouldnt, tho it would be fun)

I am not voting either way but seriously for me to pay this much on a remote control it would need to be able to control more than just electrical products, (the wife maybe!).

If this is a deal then im stunned by the price people would normally be prepared to pay!
it can control lights and electric blinds too

I find the negative comments on here laughable, and clearly from those that have not stepped foot inside a Hi-Fi/AV specialist showroom, know their HDMI from their Component from their Scart, understand what 5.1 or 6.1 sound is, and have no clue what a AV receiver does.

For those uneducated that still own CRTs or LCDs with Scart connections that auto switch I guess you never will understand that there is more to home cinema than the simplicity that your setups require, and the explanation really isnt worthy.

This remote is already the cheapest available for this particular model at Amazon...the fact that on top of that you are saving nearly 25% makes it a bargain, like it or not.

Yes, £70 is quite a lot for a Universal remote, and there are of course cheaper Universal remotes out there including cheaper Logitech ones..fact of the matter is Logitech make the most comprehensively programmable Universal remotes out there, this is not the budget model the 525 is...and that will set you back £35-40...and even if that seems to you technically challenged people too much money...well stick with not knowing or caring about home cinema systems, and leave everyone else that does and gets tired of utilising a few remotes to be able to switch all their equipment on to be able to have the pleasure of it alone.
for me, one remote replaces 4 remotes (also can control the 360 on live if i want)
i can also use it upstairs to control other devices if required.
might even get some electric blinds and remote light switch for the cinema effect...lol (ok maybe just the latter!!)

I am quite amused by the people who are saying people who buy these remotes are "lazy fat t$%ts" or similar.

Are you guys seriously telling me you will stand up and walk to your devices to operate them? So you're flicking through channels and you will stand by your tv/set top box and flick through channels until you find something you like, and then go and sit back down again? Really?

Or are you really trying to say that people are lazy by not being willing to pick up more than one remote. There is a difference between laziness and convenience.
It is downright awkward to have to flick between 4 or 5 remotes to get everything you want running right. It's not a matter of laziness, it's just practicality.
If I wanted to play a DVD on my xbox 360, I would have to:
Switch the TV on
Switch the TV to HDMI (for which there isn't a dedicated button)
Switch my AV Reciever on
Switch my AV Reciever to Xbox360
Switch on my XBox360
and maybe adjust the volume

That's at the very least 5 button presses, but more likely somewhere near 8-10 (for either flicking through source options on the TV, or going through the menus)
I can do all of that on my logitech 885 by pressing one button. And then I have the full range of controls for my xbox360 in order to navigate menus.
In the process, I have also saved on buying batteries for 3 remote controls, and digging around under sofa cushions for the ones I can't find. It's also saved me some time in fiddling, and also saved me space on my coffee table which would look horrifically cluttered with the 8 remotes I would usually have without it.

I recently swapped a creative 5.1 speaker system for a proper Denon AVR-1909 amp with dedicated speakers. All I had to do was press the "delete icon" for the old creative set, then click "add new device". Typed in "Denon AVR-1909" into the search box and it downloaded the setup automatically from the net. I didn't even need to get the reciever's OEM remote out of the box! It's not even seen the light of day.

It's all about convenience. If it's not worth £70 to you (and keep in mind you can get devices with almost identical features for £30+, you pay more on this one for the dock and touchscreen), then that's fair enough. But that doesn't stop this from being a HOT deal considering the savings from RRP. If you don't want it - don't buy it, but for the technology and convenience, this is a great price.
what amp do you have as im intrigued as to why you need to switch to hdmi - do you have non-hdmi devices connected to your tv?

4) select input 1
5) find onkyo amp remote
6) press power on
7) select correct input
8) find virgin media box remote
9) press power on
10) select guide
11) locate channel
12) select correct channel
13) adjust volume

or using the logitech one remote:-
1) press the preprogrammed button to "watch bbc1" (programmed to turn off all devices, turn on vm box, amo, tv, select correct input on tv/amp, select channel, select volume

If i want to switch off all devices one the one remote i press power off/on, thats it for powering off ALL devices

Yep me too, that is why I have so much time to frequent these forums so I can save a couple of quid. Even with millions in the bank every penny helps!

If pressing to buttons on your few remotes is tiring I'm amazed you have the energy to still type. Do you not think ranting at people that have free speech is a bit annoying and trying to (remote)control people?
I do not think people will take any advice from someone who has no clue about home cinema and buys 10p sun glasses. There is a difference between trying to save a few quid and being a xxx, you are the latter.

I need to switch the TV to HDMI as I have a couple of SCART devices plugged into the TV (N64, PS2) and also I have a non-HDMI xbox360 which I sometimes hook up to the TV via VGA (as that's how it's hooked up to my projector - oh how I wish I had an HDMI projector!)

I have to switch the amp to xbox360 so that it selects the right audio input.

I stated in my earlier post that I have a Denon AVR-1909 AV reciever. And I love it!

You can get a cyberlink remote + receiver from ebuyer for £6. Works a treat and in harmony database.

£70 for a remote is just sheer x-rated, so much so it should be on the top shelf. Not voting either way but £70 for a remote lol...if those chairs off of Walle are ever made looks like lots of people will be buying them...

Don't tell me what I want to take seriously or not I meant laughable as in not constructive, none of them particularly were funny or jokes.

Eagerly awaiting mine to arrive. In the meantime I have read up on using it and on the numerous forums where there are large threads extolling it's virtue and advising how to get the best use out of it.

It might not shut up the windgers and trolls on here, but it should stop Mrs Kar from moaning about which of our 4 remotes to press just to turn up the volume when watching a DVD.

I have to live with Mrs Kar (bless her) and thank God I dont have to live with the moaners on here!

Mine arrived today (ordered Tues I think). Preferring it to my (excellent) 885 already, though I was disappointed to learn that when you click "upgrade remote" in the software it doesn't transfer all your customised menus, only your devices and basic settings

Also, I didn't realise the screen is actually touch screen so it gets the same complaint for fingerprints as the Harmony 1000!
