EXPIRED - SanDisk SDHC 4gb Extreme III only £12.49 at Play!

£12.49

52°

FOUND BY: Kryptix 8 months, 2 weeks ago

I saw someone selling this card for £13 second hand on a forum and I bit his hand off, and then when I checked Play for the price I noticed that it's dropped to £12.49 -- the last time I checked I swear it was near the £20 mark. Even the cheapest on eBay seems to be around £20. Proper bargain if you're after the best 4gb SD card you can buy.

Remember, most photographers consider 2x 4GB better than 1x 8GB simply for being able to have a backup card in case one fails.

This is the Extreme III model (Class 6) which is the fastest SDHC speed available. I'm aware you can get Ultra II (Class 4) cards cheaper than this but the whole point of Extreme III is the very fast speed. If you have a D-SLR that has a good FPS you'll want a Extreme III card otherwise you'll only be able to take pictures as fast as the card will let you. It's also very handy for transferring the images to your computer as they'll send quicker.

Remember Quidco (which I didn't)!

This is my first submission on HUKD so pleas be gentle!

Might as well pay the extra £2 and get double the memory:

SanDisk Ultra II 8GB SD HC Memory Card with speed performance rating of Class 4 (based on SD 2.0 Specification)

But that's a slower card. I have a Ultra II card and I'm purposely upgrading to the Extreme III for the faster speed... That's the whole point of it mate.

As long as you don't mind having a slower card

Actually, the speed difference is negligible for most devices the Extreme card will be used in when compared to the Ultra one I referred to above. I'm glad at least I understand SDHC.

actually it's a pretty big difference especially to those using them for decent cameras especially dslr's or compacts with lots of videos, even if not with the device itself certainly with transferring data to the computer

SanDisk Extreme III - Minimum of 20MB per second sequential read and write speed

SanDisk Ultra® II - Minimum of 10MB/second sequential read / Minimum 9MB/second sequential write

not many people here shoot sports events it seems. if you do then you'll know this is a good piece of kit.

if you spend hundreds on a camera at least get a decent card to go in it!

voted hot. as far as i know the fastest cards about and it DOES make a difference. raw files are ~1mb per megapixel so the faster they get on the card the better.

I have both these cards and there is a noticable speed difference when using them in my Nikon SLR. Speed is an issue for me so I'm voting Hot.

Seems like a good price if you want the improved transfer rate. Have some warmth.
