Best Place To Get DSLR Sensor Cleaned?!!

What kind of SLR is it? Chances are, there'll be a guide for it online. Failing that, an indie camera shop should be able to do it for you for not much. You can buy sensor cleaning kit off eBay for not much, but my experience with them hasn't been especially good.

Its a Canon 400d, jessops sell a cleaning kit for £34 but i wouldn't want to mess up the sensor if i tried it myself.

Is there a lot of dust on it? post a pic with a f stop of over f10 and see how much shows up, say f16 or more should really show it with a blue sky or light coloured wall.
I have one speck on mine(350d) and dare not touch it, rather just clone it out.

Does it not clean it itself? I use a 1000D at work and that has built in sensor cleaning.

Most manufacturers offer a service to clean sensors but it usually means posting your camera into them (not cheap) and they charge a hefty £25 to £50 for what is not more than 5 minutes work! This isn't a viable option for most people as dust on the sensor is a pretty common problem - it normally gets there when changing lenses. Even if you have a telephoto this can 'suck in' dust when you zoom in and out of subjects!


You can try the DIY approach such as a blower, special brush or chemical type swabs. My advice is to try remove the dust away with a blower and then resort to other, more intense methods if this fails to remove the dust particles. Whatever you do you must not use pressurised air.
