The Shield was about an experimental division of the Los Angeles Police Department set up in the fictional Farmington district ("the Farm") of Los Angeles, using a converted church ("the Barn") as their police station, and featuring a group of detectives called the Strike Team who will stop at nothing to bring their version of justice to the streets. Michael Chiklis has top billing with his portrayal of Strike Team leader Vic Mackey. The show has an ensemble cast that will normally run a number of separate story lines through each episode.

Thanks. Just as a warning to people I believe the last episode on series 5 is heavily cut compared to what was shown on TV, i think about 30mins is missing from the UK release. HOWEVER, this is the best show on TV

Yes you're right in saying that the episode is heavily cut, its bad really. I watched my friends region 1 version and wasnt disappointed. Such an awesome show, a real shame that its all over now. Im waiting for a complete boxset release, prolly from the states as that will have everything included....maybe even a plastic mackey baldo cap and shades thrown in as a bonus!!

Just a little note, the whole series boxset (seasons 1 - 7) is on pre-order for £93.99 at play.com (link below) they did have it up for the RRP of £129.99 just a few days back, it'll be interesting to see how much it'll end up selling for when the release date finally comes (or a few months afterwards).

Thanks for telling me that! I remember watching it and thinking...oh, is that the end?!

Still, it's one of my favourite shows, along with The Wire, and it's DEFINITELY worth a tenner a series!
