Oh my god, that is just terrible.

As for energy saving, its for all the obese people that can't be arsed to get out of their lazy boys.

Whats next, remote control chip pan!

Nice price though.

That's a bit of a generalisation, isn't it? What about the likes of elderly people or the disabled? These sorts of thing are a boon for folks like that. Much better than leaving things on standby instead. Shame on you!

I actually use some of these myself, for hard to reach areas like in behind my Home Cinema setup and they are just excellent IMHO

The price is fantastice compared to what's showing on the website.

H&R added....

Open your mind a little, dude. There's more uses for a remote control power socket than just laziness. Accessibility would be my #1 priority. Like, my Sky Digibox crashes all the time since the wind knocked the antenna out of place a couple of weeks ago. The only way to get the box working again is to pull the box out, pull the power cable out, and plug it back in. Switching the socket on and off isn't even possible, since it's way behind the TV and its stand and everything around it. So this'd come in super-useful for me.

Also, I could use it to hit stupid people in the face.

Ok, I can kinda see it may have some uses, but as its infra red, putting it in those hard to reach places probably means there isn't a direct line for the beam to hit, that is really my main gripe.

Had it of been bluetooth then thats different.

Think u jumped in a little quick then!

Some of our sockets are hidden behind the TV unit and also more under the sofa. Everything used to stay on standby as we can't get to the sockets, now it's all off with the touch of a button.

But yes it would have it's uses for lazy people.... now where are those remote control chip pans I'm hungry!

A selling point is that it stops things being in standby, but isn't the controller now always on instead?

It is - you'll only get a saving if the controller standby power is less than that of the item you've got plugged into it. So don't use it with mobile phone chargers!

does anyone know if any liverpool stores have these in and also would this be good for saving money around xmas time turning lights on and off? or would the control being on standby be just as bad?
