The 8800GT from Novatech for £70 is a much better choice.

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/s...html?XFX-88GTA

The extra RAM is pretty much useless and generally the 8800GT is much much faster than the 4670.

I've just bought this to replace an 8800gtx, I've had nothing but problems with it so am moving over to ATI. The card mentioned is a good price yes but IMO this is better, the extra memory is deffinately worth for me as I do a lot of video and image editing too which is where the memory will be really useful, I also have 4 montiors connected at 1920x1200 (2 powered splitters) so the extra memory is used their too

This is much lower power than the 8800gt and doesn't require an extra power cable, so good for people with small PSU e.g. Dell upgrades. But 8800gt is the fast card. This also runs quieter/cooler.

That's true. This doesn't require the an extra power connector whereas the 8800GT does. The 800GT also does run very hot and it's damn loud at full load. Meh, I didn't vote either way so no harm done. :-)

I’ve never seen benchmarks showing that video or image editing benefits from extra Video RAM; what are you basing your observation on?

There are applications that are starting to use CUDA to enhance video/image editing but that’s about using the raw processing power of the GPU. Adobe have started to offer this but its nVidia only I presume!

No doubt, Asus got higher memory speed. But, it comes with just one DVI port.
However, the extra 512MB memory in HIS doesn't really help too much. Unless you go for extremely high resolution 1920x1080??
Again, it is not a card for high end gaming.

Over-clocking is never guaranteed and you can try over-clocking the Asus as well.
Cards like this don’t perform well enough to run games in very high resolution so it’s highly doubtful that the extra RAM will have a positive impact. If anybody has some data that says otherwise then please share.

It comes with one DVI and one HDMI which is a more flexible arrangement. These cheaper cards tend to not come with the DVI/HDMI adapter so having a built in HDMI port is a bonus for some.

I'm sure this is a decent enough price but I'm not really looking for a new card, I bought one last year.
I do like to keep an eye out and see what's coming up.

I am in the position of having a Dell (Dimension 9200) and it has the Dell 375w PSU.
I'm running 4gbs of RAM, a Quad Core 6700 and an Nvidia 9600GT.

I suspect I don't have too much headroom to take this rig much further.....but tbh so far at least I just can't see any benefit I would get anyways.
I can already run all the high def stuff I need to (including retail HD DVD & Blu-rays).
I imagine I might have to 'turn down' Crysis if I was into it but I'm not.
