OFFICIAL EuroDisney advice thread regarding everything from travel to entertainment

POSTED BY: realfriendlyman 7 months, 4 days ago

I've noticed a lot of people are planning on going to Disneyland this summer, so I thought it would be useful to have a single thread that advises people on where to go and how to do it for the best value.

1) Include advice on areas such as quickest form of travel and best value altertatives
2) Cheapest method of travel to Disneyland once arriving in France
3) Best dates to travel to take advantage of promos or to avoid queues
4) Events not to be missed
5) Best rides
6) Tips for food and cheaper alternatives
7) What's there to do in the evenings in and around the park?

Info that I've found so far:

1) We're considering taking either Eurotunnel or Ferry, as it seems quite expensive to travel to Disneyland once arriving in France.

2) Resorthoppa quoted us something like £240, so it seems taking a car is essential and I've spoken to Disney and hotel guests have free parking privilages and offer a constant free shuttle bus to and from the hotels.

6) I don't know about the rest yet, as we haven't been but I've been advised by Disney that there is a McDonalds about 7 mins walk from the park, which is a much cheaper alternative than meals costing £15 per person inside the park.

I hope this thread helps people with there summer hols and if anyone wants any advice about hotels that are situated just outside the park, I've found some excellent prices that will make it much cheaper than booking directly with Disney.

When we went to EuroDisney you could spot the Brits because at lunchtime, while everyone else queued to pay stupid prices for food, they sat on the benches & got their sarnies out

From what I remember (it was a few years ago, mind) there were 'bouncers' at the entrance trying to stop people bringing in their own food (stopping likely culprits & asking to search bags etc), and the price of food & drinks was exorbitant, so much so that we bought one drink to share among 4 of us because I refused to pay for 4 drinks

Do you remember what the prices were like?

Surprised that Disney have policing policies like this...I hope they don't have Mickey Mouse beating up the parents after catching them with a bottle of water without a disney logo.

We were there in feb-they check your bags-but its not for food-we look loads in every day-its just a security check-you can take what you want in-they have picnic type tables for you to use in the parks.

I can't get the search buttons to work-but i posted a huge paragraph of tips-as did loads of others sometime at the end of feb-if you can find that set of posts it will really help-if not pm me and i'll post it all again.

That's the kind of information I want to know about, as we're staying for 4 nights and 5 days, so we might want to venture out at times.

What's there to do in the evenings in and around the park?

I've been to Disneyland Paris many times and would recommend staying in one of the cheaper hotels on-site. I've stayed in all the Disney ones with the exception of the actual Disneyland Hotel (the most expensive) and my favourites are the Sequoia Lodge and the Cheyenne.
There's a big shopping center and outlet village one stop along (RER) from Disney. It has a big supermarket which is ideal for buying food and drink.
At night Disney Village has plenty to keep you entertained- shops and restaurants etc- all of which are open late.
