Nitty Gritty comb Free from your GP

STARTS: 24/04/2009

Ok after seeing the post for the betterware £1.99 comb i decided to let you folk (those that don't know that is ) that these Nitty gritty combs are the best on the market to get rid of those horrid little critters from your darlings locks.

But what most dont know is you can get this for free from your GP although chemists will not give this info out as they want you to pay £10 for it.

Its listed under Electronic Drug Tariff on NHS website and if you go to the nitty gritty website they have a letter you can print off to take to the GP to show them you mean business as they dont like to give them away.
Mke sure they write the prescription under your childs name .

well worth the fight for it as it will rid you of nits within a few uses.

My youngest was always coming home with them. Weekend of us all sitting with chemicals in our hair for her to come back on Monday with more. We then got an electronic bug comb for £25 from Boots. It worked but took ages with 1 comb. I suggest if you have more than 1 under 16, get more as Mum, Dad, Gran could be doing some at the same time instead of all using the same comb.

It is crazy though, I went all through my childhood and never got them until my youngest came home from school with them when she was about 6. They are tough and stubborn to shift. They are like mini cockroaches and I reckon would survive a nuclear explosion. They get used to the chemicals and build up a resistance.

Same here - spoke to my mum recently and confirmed I never had nits at all as a child - however my eldest has been coming home on a regular basis from playgroup and now school infested with them for the past 2 years.

All you need is one kid in the class who's parents don;t give a damn and teh whole school ends up with them :/

The chemicals, etc don't work at all - but conditioner and this comb does the trick !

It was 1 of my pet hates, I wanted to make petitions to bring back nitty nora, I complained to the head teacher and she said not allowed to even comment on kids hair even if they can see them crawling in a childs hair. All they can do is send letters home to all the kids which probably end up in the bin.

I shouted in the playground in the morning, check your kids hair for nits cuz somebody keeps giving them to my family. Nearly got to fisty cuffs lol.

Good post, i'd recommend people get these asap (if they need them), as some spies from that other site run by M lewis will report to him, and he'll put it in his weekly email/newsletter or what ever it's called and they'll be a mad rush.

thing that really pee's me is the school could do more but keep pushing it over to the parents, but like you say what if those particular parent dont give a damn ? does that mean all us other have to stand upto an hour every other night coming the blighters out??
school should be able to report the constant offending parents to the council and fine them for neglect as to me thats what they are doing to their kids.
rant over ! i think

Def best on the market, takes 21 days to clear fully, and most parents don't check or do it properly, thats why when they do the rounds, they never seem to go!

Takes 2 hours out of the evening to do my daughters hair, but I'm not worried about time, remember school?

The only comb that gets them out. We found that the expensive headlice shampoos were all useless and the best treatment was a 60p bottle of tea tree conditioner used daily in conjunction with this comb.

nice one, i sent my daughter to school in a bandanna and was tempted to put nit deterrent on the front of it as i really got fed up with the constant infestations.
i even asked the head why no teachers can see them when all the kids can and know who has them and who dont! and i got told well if the teacher cant then we cant do nothing

in layman's terms this means all teachers are programmed not to see them or admit to seeing them as fear of having to do something about it !

bring back nitty nora i never had nits till i was 37 !
