EXPIRED - Panasonic 42" Plasma - P42C10B - now £549 delivered @ John Lewis *instore* with FREE 5 Year guarantee

£549.00

FOUND BY: dancrawley 6 months, 3 weeks ago

This TV is now out of stock online, but as khizer pointed out, John Lewis have quite a few of them instore still - best to phone and check stock availabilty before making a trip.

Fantastic stuff - Argos reduced this to £549 yesterday, and I tried to get JL to price match with no joy. But, lo and behold, they have now matched the Argos price online (in fact beaten in, with the free delivery), and are including their standard 5 year guarantee!

Yes, it is cheaper at Richer Sounds (£529), this does not include a 5 year guarantee - and John Lewis will not match that price, because RS have it marked up as £549 in store.

This is the brand new entry level Plasma from Panasonic (only released this week), using a mixture of PX80 and X10 technology, and looks a blinder for the price.

Sit back and enjoy stunning HD images with this Panasonic Viera TX-P42C10B 42 plasma television.

Its state-of-the-art technology gives amazing picture quality, with the 100Hz Intelligent Double Scan giving fantastic resolution even during fast moving scenes something football fans and film buffs will both appreciate.

The V-Real 4 signal processing perfectly optimises the performance of the screen to render smooth, crystal-clear motion without compromising on delicate colours with their rich graduation.

Sound is enhanced with its in-built V-Real surround sound technology (with bass extension), while the 24p Real Cinema settings offers enhanced judder-free playback, giving a smooth film look. The 2 HDMI sockets allow you to hook-up your Blu-ray player, PVRs and games consoles with ease.

The TX-P42C10B is also capable of playing footage straight from your camcorder in high-definition mode and you can view a slideshow of your photos - just remove the SD memory card from your digital still camera, and slip it in the slot.

This television is high definition ready which means it has the ability to display high definition signals with the addition of a separate HD receiver. HD broadcasts are at a much higher resolution than regular analogue or digital broadcasts and have greatly enhanced picture quality. The level of detail is astonishing with clearer, sharper and more vibrant images.

After much thought, I have taken the plunge and ordered today. Now I just have to hope that a) the missus doesn't kill me, and b) it isn't too heavy for my TV unit!

Great deal. Hot!

If I hadn't bought a new telly in the post-Xmas sales I'd buy this.

There is not a lot of info around on this TV, as it is literally released this week, but assuming that it is identical to the US model (P42C1)..............

There are full specs here:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Televisions/All-VIERA-Flat-Panel-HDTVs/model.TC-P42C1

There is also one consumer review at Amazon.com (5 stars)

Dynamic contrast of 2,000,000:1 apparently! (native 15,000:1)

lol! No, it's not a toaster either!

Your SD picture is going to look great on here though ...........

HD might not be so clear, when you have your nose pressed up against against the screen

It's not such a daft comment, on my PS3 the menu symbols are huge when it's not 1080p, it's much clearer and easier to use when it is 1080p, I would have ordered this if it was....but cos it's not I'll have to keep waiting for decent 1080p plasma, just pointing out it's not just picture quality it effects...

1080p is only really noticable if you have a 50inch plus tv or your sitting 1 foot away from the thing. You will not notice any real change from a 780 to a 1080 at the moment.

I don't have a console so i can't comment on that.

Bo11ocks! The PS3 menu icons are the same size whether set at 1080p, 1080i or 720p. They are only 'huge' if set at 576p so I would suggest looking at your display settings.

I've been looking at this telly for a while now. Very Very tempted now.

I have a general question if someone could be so kind. I hear alot of issues about screen burn with plasmas. How much of a problem would this be when playing games? I realise that you have to 'warm up' with 200 hours before playing games on it but when thats done ,how long would be too long to plays games in a continous session?

Thanks all

Plasma screens vary - some suffer from it some don't. The worst i've seen are Samsung & LG's. Panasonics are usually bomb proof. I've never seen even a hint of it on my PHD8 Panasonic display. It will be fine as long as you take it out of 'Dynamic' mode.

I'm tempted to upgrade my Panasonic 37PX80B but being an entry level plasma i'm not sure if it will be a worthwhile upgrade other than the extra 5 inches.
