Anyone ever tried phoning in to those late night quioz shows?

Spent a few quid one night after a good night at the casino (thinking my luck was still on a good run)!

Spent about £6 and managed to get through once. Didnt get through to studio but, it did give me a further 2 or 3 free calls.

Never again!

Other half was in a bit of flap a day or so ago as she always rings the Deal or No Deal line and never gets to leave her name etc. She only managed to get through when the prize was at £75k and then had to endure 10 nail biting minutes to see if her name cropped up on screen! Needless to say it didnt

Don't be silly... waste your money on something more worthwhile.

Well, someones gotta win, but there are a lot of losers to make that one person win.

they must make ucket loads from people trying to phone in, aparently they give you 50 attempts

I tried calling Quiz Call perhaps ten times over a year ago, well before I was aware of the scandalous odds of getting through. I supplemented this with over one hundred web entries before giving up.

Luckily my dad never spotted them on the phone bill. Suffice to say all these quiz channels are ridiculous. Although Kat Shoob off The Mint is fantastic, worth watching just for her classic comments

ive called quiz call, got through too, but sadly no win :( i dont watch it anymore cos its addictive!, if you know the answer (bear in mind the questions are usually ridicuosly easy) its just so tempting to keep trying, and at between 60-75p a go WHETHER YOUR SELECTED OR NOT its just not worth it! theres also long periods of time where there are no callers to the studio, giving false impressions that you will get through but if you try you just get the 'sorry you are not sucessful on this occasion, please try again'

The worst instance was on TMF (the presenter was really hot!) and she kept giving the Bambi eyes. They didn't take a call in 50mins then went off the air because their Freeview airtime slot finished - it literally just cut off. I was desperate to know the answer but I didn't have Sky until yesterday.

also really annoying is when there are multiple answers, they say they are easy, you sit and sit and sit and wait, then when so one guesses, they reveal and the answers are just ridiculous that no one would ever guess!!!!!!!!

I also love it when the presenter pretends that the 'revealed answers' were patently obvious. Last weekend one of the 'guess the following' questions was Head... One of the answers was Head of the family!

The film title ones are particularly bad.

i watched one along time ago where they had a mock bar, and you had to guess the list of about 4 drinks, they claimed that each drink was popular and well known, well 1 of them was 'coconut lips' well ive never heard of this drink, i may be a minority, but i must say ive spent a fair time in pubs and ive not heard it being ordered!

they are so fixed, they have one's like "how many legs on four elephants, a parrot and two dogs?" or whatever and the only people that get through are saying 3124 and 1.....
"hi, you're through to the studio, what's your name and where are you calling from?"
"Errr Dan and i'm err calling from the back of the studio errr I mean Dorset"
"What's you answer Dan?"
"Is it 2 and a half?"
"Ahhhh I'm sorry Dan, keep trying"

I don't like those quizzes.

The answers are so vaguely posed, you have no chance. Such as.

"One hundred and 32 - seven x 25 + 17 / twenty seven. Count the numbers"

Simply because of the "count the numbers". Because, do you do the sums, or do you add the numbers (and not the numbers which are words).

It's so ambiguous.

Surely you'd be better spending your money on a lottery ticket??

If I'm bored, I sometimes do these experiments of chance with my money. Put £20 on the lottery once, and won a tenner...
