If your trying to quit smoking like me, you'll be glad to hear that Superdrugs have reduced the price of their Nicorette Patches by 50%

These are the 16hr patches

Step 1 - 15mg @ £7.14
Step 2 - 10mg @ £6.49
Step 3 - 5 mg @ £6.50

These patches are the standard beige type ones rather than the clear (prefer these as the clear ones leave me with a rash and itchiness)

Picked up 3no boxes of step one and was also given an invitation to fill in a survey online for a further 10% off in store. Ideal for buying in the next step of patches, for a further saving.

Before anyone mentions getting these from the GP, and paying for prescriptions with a prepay NHS card. I've done this in the past, but I can't be bothered with my GP anymore, I just can't get an appointment or find a convenient time with work commitments.

The best place to put these patches is over your mouth that should help... are they cheaper than smoking as they still seem quite expensive...

Well if you think that the 15mg patches are for 10-20 a day smokers, a pack of 20 cigs are about £4.50 - £5 per day.

The 10mg are for smokers of 10 per day, 10 cigs will on average be between £2.50 - £3 per day.

So in context the patches work out much cheaper immediately, then there are the long term health and financial benefits. But I guess i'm bound to get the odd person commenting on smoking rollies with tobacco from abroad. Which I'm not condoning.

Thought about it, but I'm not too keen on the endless list of side effects. A friend of mine was put on Champix recently after being warned that he had to stop smoking. He suffered from terrible depression, and has to take a lot of time off work now. He has stopped though. But after the news he got, I suppose he was growing a tail.

I know exactly what you mean, Guess your on 24hr patches rather than 16hr. Had some really good ones (if you like Saw and Texas Chainsaw Massacre and that type of film) on the 24hrs, wish I could record them. I'd make a good Clive Baker or Ridley Scott (or is that Ron Jeremy?)

This is my first time on 16hr patches.

Ummm.... The stop smoking clinic request a prescription from your GP on your behalf, and to attend a stop smoking clinic (unless your company runs sessions) you need time off work (or the vast majority of us do)

Poundland are definitely doing patches for a quid. They may well be doing the lozenges or mints, which are cheap anyway.

I think you'll find the majority of people in the UK actually do NOT work. I think the working population is estimated to be around 29million and the population is around 62million

I stopped smoking using the patches from boots you only pay one prescription fee for an 8 week course. You have to go in every week for the carbonmonoxide test, I'm normally in and out in 10mins so could be done on your lunch break or you can go in on the weekends. I dont pay for prescriptions so was free for me. Also Llyods chemists also offer this service and you dont need to be refered from your doctor for either.
