Depends how you look at it, 2.4 Terra Flops is alot of processing power and using it with stuff like folding at home would mean you do some serious number crunching fast. Gaming terms it is the best ATI offering and currently one of the best performers and in price to( compared to nvidia high range, not lower). This will play all games maxed and is best used at the max resolutions of 2560x1900 to really let the beast shine (along with good parts on rest of system).

I agree £240 is a lot, i spent £150 on an 8800GTS (512mb/g92) and that was a crap load for me and i then won a competiton (at hexus!) and got a 9800GTX which is similar to my previous card but now flogged the gts and thinking about changing to an ati 4770 as its really low power but good performance. Over the next few months we shall see the price fall and the new 5000 series from ati along with the g300 series from nvidia which both sound like they will do very well.

Heat is (should be) dictated by it's price compared to the same item at other places. Not whether you think it's good value compared to your food bill.

It costs this much because it's essentially two 4870 1Gb cards squished into one. So, lots of performance = lots of £££

so would there be much point putting these in a cross fire configuration?

Whilst I agree, it's horses for courses isn't it? And people have differing priorities in life

Hi, I don't think you can... this card has already 2 ati cores in crossfire.
Cheers :D

They can, it can be put in quad fire. The cores are on a single PCB which allows a single slot design (3rd party/not standard) which will make it even easier but normally they take up 2 slots the cooler so make sure you have space and a compatible mobo!
