If the lines of communication are broken between buyer and seller, we'll aim to bridge that gap by passing on information via PM and/or via the registered email address on record.

This is only normally required when members have failed to follow the full set of points listed in the trading advice section listed at the top of every fs/ft thread.

If we have conclusive proof of a dodgy dealer/bad trader then we take action to suspend/ban the account. In addition accounts are monitored to ensure that previous members returning to the FS/FT under another username are also banned. Additional resources have been recruited to assist in this process. We wouldn't want to say much more than this in order to ensure we don't give any insight to 'scammers' on the checks involved.

I appreciate the frustration some members face. We highlight how important it is to both parties to ensure full details are swapped and verified, so that each member may decide on private action later if required.

It can be difficult in obtaining a resolution on all trades. If you can imagine a member of the public walking into the police station and stating

:
I've just handed over £150 to a complete stranger. I don't know what he/she looks like, nor do I have any contact details. Can you get me my money back please ?
In the scenario described above, we would at least try to communicate via email. If it's a true scammer, then we're unlikely to receive a response and as such we'll close the account and monitor for any 'linked' accounts. This will primarily be a preventative measure to stop other members being scammed. The police would probably be in a position to do nothing. However there may be other issues that the buyer/seller was unaware of and had not returned to the site. By sending an email, there is always a little bit of hope when all seems lost.

I hope that gives a little insight into what goes on, but we can't divulge too much at this stage.

If you have any further questions, or indeed comments of a constructive nature, please do let us know.

Suppose theres not a lot the admins can do but monitor accounts, I think though the admins should look into stiffing the sign up function of the FS/FT threads at least, that way they can double check the address/email/phone number agains't the 192.com database that was suggested by aScottishbloke before, I think this would eliminate several accounts, I know they do it on AvForums and it seems sucessful as the account is then tracked to you personally, though the user does have to sign a user agreement that gives the sites and admins access to personal details, though I personally wouldn't mind this others may not. But if it stops a few people from getting ripped off then i'm glad.

I think we just need to look out for each other and advise where we can to other members who use the forums, you will find a few members that will put there input in either on PM or directly on the suspect posting, which I am grateful for and glad that they have the balls so to speak to do so.

Are you suggesting that to trade on the FS/FT board we all give Admin our names and addresses? Do you know how much that data is worth to all the companies on here? I don't want to be spammed by all the affiliates.

Come to think of it, I've never given my address to anyone here as a seller, other than the ones that were collections.
