Free Save-A-Flush water savers (up to 4 per household) with Severn Trent Water

300°

FOUND BY: Jaffo 5 months, 1 week ago

Did you know that you can reduce your water usage by 12 litres a day with a Save A Flush thats a saving of £8.90 off your annual water bill.

Save-a-Flush is an environmentally friendly way to use 1 litre less water every time you flush the loo.

The Save-a-Flush bag contains a biodegradable polymer which swells on contact with water, plus a little sand to provide some weight. Simply pop it into your cistern, and let it sit there displacing a litre of water every time you flush.

And when its time to replace, you can empty the contents of the bag on your garden (the polymer will aid water retention in the soil) and the bag can be recycled.

Allow up to 28 days for delivery.

It basicallu expands to the size of a qubic litre of water, so there is 1 liter less of water each time, as some space is taken up buy the bag, and it will stop when it reaches a certain level, not a certian amount of water
And sorry about spelling

It works on the basic Archimedes principle.
Say the cistern holds 10L or water you put in an object which has the volume of 1L
This displaces the volume so there is only now room for 9L of water + the 1L object.
so the Toilet can only now flush with 9L instead of 10. Geddit?

You can do exactly the same thing by popping a few bricks into your cistern ;)
Reduce, Reuse, recycle and all that!

Tis' what I do!

The gel in these is great for putting round your plants in pots. Stops them drying out if you forget to water for a few days.

9 out of 10 you could adjust the water level in the tank, but if you not sure how... then it best to get ‘save-a-flush’

Great fund well-done

Excellent. We've had a brick in our cistern for about five years and have never noticed a difference but if it saves the planet, then woo-hoo!
P.S. Working on the example given in OP, one litre of water at home costs 0.00203196347 pence. Cheaper than Evian!!
