£365.00

For Quality and extreme value you can't go far wrong with this top brand HP desktop, supplied by one of the best retailers John Lewis. The evidence:

Less than £370 subject to sucssesful discounts. John Lewis 2 year guarantee. Windows XP Media Centre Edition 2005 (Unconfirmed by me but highly likely Vista upgrade)

Intel Pentium D processor 820 Dual core(2.8Ghz unconfirmed by me ) | 2GB Ram | 7x USB 2.0 | Memory card slot 9-in-1| FireWire / IEEE 1394 ports 2 | Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce 7300LE | Graphics card - video RAM 256MB | Hard drive 160GB | CD / DVD optical drive DVD writer DVD RAM and DVD±R/±RW (double layer)(Unconfirmed by me lightscribe)

This is reduced from £500 to £400 in the clearance sale, there are a few others as well, but for budget value I think this delivers in all areas. To get to the final price use the £15 off voucher found in the voucher section. Go through Quidco to get the rest. I have estimated this to be £16.40 this is a conservative estimate based on 5% of the order value less the £15 voucher and VAT. I will confirm the actual amount when I am allocated it.
There are plenty in stock at the moment but I think it's because people disregard Pentium D processors. Just remember they are more than enough to play games, surf and word process especially when combined with 256MB of graphics and 2GB Ram. I phoned John lewis and the sales rep told me that Dual core means that you are effectivly getting two lots of 2.8GHz, if any of you could confirm this that would be great.

Quidco has tracked at £20 thats 5% of the original price no deductions for voucher or VAT.

That's what I thought, It's becoming apparent that Dell are top suppliers with a great reputation but for those still unconvinced this is a great alternative (HP and John Lewis a winning combination)

Hi, Good find. Excellent customer service from JohnLewis. Not sure about the video card however there is a PCI-E slot for adding another. This machine has four SATA connectors and the mainboard is manufactured by ASUS one of the largest mobo manufacturers in the world. This is no doubt a well made machine.

Think that the recovery media is on a hidden partition. Highly recommended that the recovery media is backed up onto CD-R/CD-RW if this is possible.

Think that HP allow for customers to upgrade DDRII, Video Card and Hard Disk Drive as they've included a video on their web-site showing how to add an additional Hard Disk Drive and PCI Card suggesting that they allow for end-users to open their machines.

Hard Disk Drive upgrade/addition URL:

PCI Card upgrade/addition URL:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...311675&lang=en

There's also a CPU upgrade URL however am not sure whether HP allow for CPU upgrades without voiding the warranty.

CPU Upgrade URL:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...311675&lang=en

Hope this helps.

This one works out at £190.75 more and you get double size Hard Drive, 512MB ATI Radeon X1650 SE Graphics Card and Intel Core 2 processor E6300, 2 X 1.86GHz thats a combined GHz of 3.72GHZ, You only get 1GB Ram.

With my original deal surley your getting a combined 5.6GHZ ????? sounds superior to me ??????? and 2GB Ram comments please I'm confused but convinced. Also 256MB Graphics card is surley enough to play any game to a reasonable standard??? Plus it's only £365 as opposed to £555.75

256 MB Card is more than enough for everyday tasks. I run 3D CAD applications on a 128 card with no problems. Sounds like an excellent deal to me.
