This is a really good deal, for a moment I thought oh no...not another one of those pentium dual core machines. But with a Core 2 Duo Processor. This is an excellent buy.

Only two downsides would be the weight and battery life imo. (Yep, just checked, 3.8kg!)

Compare with the same model but with a weaker T4200 processor for £600 delivered at Amazon.

Acer seem to have one hell of a lot of refurbs. Makes you wonder just how reliable this brand is.

No! You can't. The warranty is Currys own and Acer won't touch it or provide extended warranty (I asked).

I had 3 refurbs from Curry's (exchanged twice because of immediate breakdown). Eventually I asked for a refund. Would not recommend Currys refurbs.

I went through 8 (yes, 8!) refurbs before I found one that worked - always a problem with the trackpad not working, and it was hardware, not software each time

Am totally happy with what I have now, but not worth the hassle.

I've bought 2 refurb laptops from currys - 1 acer (2+ yrs) and 1 advent (1 year). The advent was delivered with a faulty battery but once that was sorted no problems. The Acer has a great battery life but did require the trackpad drivers to be installed to work properly. It continues to work even after a full glass of red wine was spilled over the keyboard (appx 18months ago). I would only ever buy the refurbs now.

Having some experience with DSG and TechGuys (a couple of refurbs bought for myself, family and friends)...

...do not buy any refubs from them unless very, very cheap e.g. that spec @ £229 .In addition, be ready to speak to clueless tech support in case of problems.No... never again...
Approx. 1 year ago, while the prices of refurbs were lower, maybe it was worth the risk, cetainly not now, when you can get similar spec but brand new for 10% more.
